كمرويي در ميان فرزندان اول خانواده و تك‌فرزندها بيشتر ديده مي‌شود، بويژه زماني كه والدين قادر نباشند زمينه تربيت و رشد اجتماعي مطلوب و هماهنگ آنان را با توجه با نيازهاي عاطفي و اجتماعي‌شان فراهم آورند.
زهرا افسري كارشناس اداره روان وزارت بهداشت و درمان با بيان اين مطلب گفت: به طور كلي در بيشتر موارد، فرزندان اول خانواده و تك فرزندها با بزرگترها بيشتر همانندسازي مي‌كنند و تمايل آنان در برقراري ارتباط با بزرگسالان بيش از همسالان‌شان است.
وي با اشاره به اين كه فرزندان اول خانواده و تك فرزندها در برقراري ارتباط با همسالان و همكلاسي‌هاي خود بيشتر با مشكل مواجه مي‌شوند، افزود: عموماً والدين انتظارات و توقعات متنوعي از تنها فرزند يا فرزند اول خود دارند و به علت همين انتظارات فوق‌العاده، اعمال فشارهاي رواني از طرف والدين و آرمان‌خواهي‌هاي فراوان آنها و احساس ناتواني اين قبيل فرزندان زمينه اضطراب و كمرويي در شخصيت آنان را بيشتر نمايان مي‌كند.
وي اظهار كرد: وضعيت عاطفي - رواني، از دست دادن احساس خود ارزشمندي و برخورداري از خودپنداري كمتر، موجب مي‌شود در بعضي از موارد فرزندان اول در مقايسه با ساير فرزندان خانواده، به توفيقات كمتري در پيشرفت تحصيلي دست
پيدا كنند.
اين كارشناس اداره روان وزارت بهداشت و درمان با بيان اين كه مدرسه به عنوان نخستين جايگاه و تجربه اجتماعي كودكان، مي‌تواند نقش تعيين‌كننده‌اي در تقويت كمرويي يا پرورش مهارت‌هاي اجتماعي آنان ايفا كند،‌ افزود:‌ متأسفانه در بسياري از موارد، كمرويي كودكان در محيط مدرسه و فضاي كلاس درس تقويت مي‌شود و چنين رفتار ناخوشايندي در شخصيت كودك تثبيت مي‌شود.
افسري افزود: در بيشتر موارد اولياي مدرسه رفتار انفعالي و آرام و سكوت مضطربانه كودك يا كودكان كمرو و ناتوان را به عنوان يك صفت پسنديده و ويژگي رفتاري مطلوب تلقي مي‌كنند و در برخي اوقات با تأييد و تشويق‌هاي خود، به طور مستقيم و غيرمستقيم سعي مي‌كنند آن را تقويت كنند كه به تدريج او را به يك موجود كاملاً كمرو و شخصيتي انفعالي تبديل مي‌كند.
وي خاطرنشان كرد: علاوه بر خانه و مدرسه، عواملي چون محروميت‌ها و آسيب‌هاي اجتماعي، ناسازگاري‌هاي شغلي، سلطه‌ها و فشارهاي گروهي، مقايسه‌ها، پرخاشگري‌ها و قدرت‌مداري‌ها و كنترل شديد اجتماعي مي‌تواند از ديگر عوامل زمينه ساز فزوني اضطراب، تشديد كمرويي و رفتارهاي گوشه‌گيرانه باشد.
